At some point in the future (when its past its MOT&#33 I was thinking of buying a L28 engine to put in my 240 cos the current one is bound to die soon. However I have been reading many conflicting opinions as to the best head/block to use for the most amount of power. Any ideas to ease my confusion would be great as I'm new to all this engine malarky.

i will have soon my 2.8 with samuri head for saleand triple dellortos, having a monster built

Late 280ZX ('82/'83) with P90 head and "flat" top pistons is a little bit more powerful as standard than the '79/'81 N42 head / dished piston version. Late block with N42 head (and careful assembly checks if high lift cam and skimmed head) will build a high compression road/race engine. Over-bored late engine and skimmed P90 head would be a good compromise for a modest road engine, compression approaching 9:1. Plenty of permutations to play with!

Cheers for that, makes it a bit clearer anyway. How much are you thinking of selling that engine for? I'm not sure if i can justify it yet but am getting a new job soon and you never know...
