Tried the MR2 pump 'bodged up' today to check it would work in some fashion (see pic). Works OK, and should be possible to mount it in an original intercooler postion for convenient pipe runs.
Steering effort was a little more than with the stock pump, but there could be a few reasons for this.
1) The rest of the car electroincs were not powered up, so the PAS solenoid that controls the force would not have been operational. Not sure of it's fail state though, so need to check it out.
2) The pump has 3 smaller cables as well as the main power feeds, these may be speed / pressure control so need to find out what they do!
Either way, it was acceptable even as it was.
