Received this communication from the organiser of the Silverstone D1 Drift Day at Silverstone:

"Dear Z club,

Opt Drift Club is holding the D1 round 3 Competition at Silverstone Race circuit on 17th July. We would like to invite you to bring along a maximum of 20 cars to set up a free display stand to promote your club (any extra cars will have to park in the main car park).

All the owners of the cars displayed on your stand will be offered 50% discount to spectate at the event.

There will be awards presented to those cars in the stands that are
a.. The best looking car
b.. The most highly engineered car
c.. The cleanest car (including suspension and the engine bay)

Please let me know if you will be able to attend and how many discount tickets you will require and the address they should be sent to.

Regards,
Kiki
OPT Drift Club"

I am happy to co-ordinate this and attend to represent the Club, but would like to gauge the level of interest from members before I commit!

Post away...................

would like to support you on this mike but sadly the car is not looking it's best following the weekend. cheers ben

now I WOULD like to see a 240z drifting, next silly idea I've had is get a front Stuffed S13 and make it into a Z80 for drifting with, cos I need to make a drift car as well, don't really wanna kill my S14 this way.

Drift

I'm interested, sounds good just have to make sure I havent got anything else planned.

More info re. Silverstone Drift Day:

"Just to provide you with some more information about the OPT drift day;

You will need to set up your stand at around 10am

There will be magazines there covering the event, including japanese performance, max power, revs, evo and others. There will also be newspapers including the independent, the times and local papers.

The trophys are given out at lunch time (1pm) and are:

1. Ultimate engineer-
The car has been intelligently designed by the owner or tuner, for example this may be the cooling system or the engine position. Really anything that shows time, effort and intelligence in its development

2. Ultimate shine- The car may be completely standard but has clean interior and exterior including suspension, engine bay, wheels, exhaust, wheel arches and underneath the car

3. Top tuning- This is basically the best lookng car i.e. nicest wheels, how the car sits, how the engine bay looks, how the interior looks and the look of the complete body shell

Please let me know if you are able to come so I can arrange your half price tickets (usually £10 but only £5 for your members)"

I'm taking the lack of positive response as an indication that we don't really want to do this, however........?
