A great day at the Pod today with perfect weather and some very quick Zs.
The Four cars which ran were in the two hotly contested classes - 5 and 7. Results as follows:

Class 5: Z32 TT:

Darren Stiles 240Z / GT-R 12.5066 @ 114.77

A tight set of side by side runs between John and Darren was settled 2 to 1 in favour of John. the close battles bode well for next month's North Weald heads-up racing!

Reaction time table:

1. John Palmer 0.3181 secs - 10 points
2. Paul Hopkinson 0.3456 - 9 points
3. Darren Stiles 0.4312 - 8 points
4. Rob Smith 0.9900 - 7 points

Spectators today included:

Mike Brown - with 240Z

Neil Marston
Rob Hughes
Jon Mason
Matt Bannister

John Palmer leads the league table with 14 points
Second is Paul Hopkinson on 12 points
Third joint Darren and Rob with 11 points each
Rest on 2 points a piece...

North Weald is Round 2 on 8th May - reminder to competitors: crash helmet compulsory for all cars at this venue. We need a guaranteed eight cars running to make a decent Heads-Up Eliminator. Sixteen would be great!

My PB run today resulted in a cracked porcelain on number 4 spark plug. Back at home I did a full compression test and all 6 cylinders seem OK.

Updated Hall of Fame & Top 10's in class records.

A big jump for Rob Smith - terminal speed indicates a bit more to come.

If anyone sees any gaps in the number plates from days of old, please let me know.

Cheers.:)

Congratulations to the very quick cars that attended yesterday. However, it is important for other members to understand that their slower cars will compete in other classes and that they have an equal chance of scoring points at these meetings. A stock 280ZX auto launching well and attending consistently could still be a Drag Challenge Champion!

We haven't had any Z31 competitors for a while, or turbo cars other than Z32 and Super Mod - we know you are out there!

Z33 conspicuous by their absence. There was a 370Z (Z34) that put in a few runs yesterday - I saw a best of 14.2 ish - quite respectable - but not a Club member as far as I am aware, just there for the day.

Numerous versions of the Porsche 911 GT models ran, the best of which was hundredths away from being a road-going ten second car - saw a best of 11.02 - painful!

A great days racing. It's good to be competing again and it's even better to have a car that can keep up with the best........just. Had a couple of incidents with an intercooler pipe blowing off resulting in no boost. Thought I'd blown a turbo untill Rob pointed out my pipework problems, thanks Rob. Best 60ft of the day was 2.08s but most were 2.2s so still a bit to do.

My season looks cut short, rear n/s shock emptied its contents on way home. So looks like N.W is out. I did not have much chhance this time anyway with 20 for a win and 1 for going out in first Rd, & no reaction time points, big advantage to the quick guys. Shame last year at NW was really good.

Run out of budget Mike. Will need a pair as mine is still on original ones. I have looked for some but it looks like £300 +. Only working part time so that is not easily found.

I've got a set of KYB AGX with three years use on them that you can have for nothing. Would prefer not to post but you can pick them up in Winchester or Peterborough.

Well amazingly it's looking like i'll be down next weekend! :)

Off for my first proper drive tonight - just couldn't afford to put any petrol in till pay day :D

Working it out it may be cheaper to get a tow bar fitted next week than drive there and back given the current petrol prices!
