I have just got a 280zx distributor with a cheap L28 engine. Only problem is that the dis. cap has been left off for some considerable time and the innards are corroded. Is this scrap? Anyone tried a repair on something similar? I was going to take off the bits and soak them in something to remove the rust and see if it works.

Alternatively I presume as a 280zx dissie fits a 240z then a 240z dissie will fit on an L28 OK? I have more than one of those in serviceable condition and could fit a pertronix.

Do a quick test to see if it works first, attach a 12v feed wire to the B terminal and connect the distributor lead to the other connector and put your ht coil king lead near the body and place the dizzy on the cam cover and hiold it down and rotete the rotor arm and you should get a nice spark out of the king lead. The electronic dizzy is less prone to corrosion problems as opposed to the points type as there is no metal to metal contact neede accross the points. Adrian
