Custom A-Pillar Gauges

I will put this here rather than in the Z32 section since I think this problem is the same for any car.

We recently bought a triple pod a pillar from Zcentre and it seems to me that the Gauge pods a REALY OVERSIZED on all these things you buy. Another thing, is that I hate fiddling around with those stupid brackets on aftermarket gauges, and never have done. My cure for this is to put it in a hole that fits the gauge in the first place and secure it by some sound proofing felt. If you do this, theyre easier to put in and take out and they dont need to fit into a housing that it massively oversized.

I have decided to make my own, much tidier replacement triple pod A-pillar.

Here is how it is now...

I have put a screen in the bottom which is to a rear bumper camera operated by a switch to turn it on and off. I got really annoyed that I couldnt see things coming up behind me on my last track day. This will be cured :)

I have a few more things I want to do to it before it's finished - such as decide where the screen switch is going, maybe make it wrap the a pillar a bit more to compensate for the thick covering not being on it, and make allowance for the screen to tilt back a teeny bit more.

Flocking could be a good finish, but it's undecided on the colour. I'll probably be painting it gunmetal faded to silver since I'll have the paint out for other mods in the meantime.

Will update when it's finished

Hopefully the final pics are attached. Apologies for not updating the thread as I had started to!

So if anyone wonders why my apillar gauges look so unobtrusive and tidy, now you know. I painted the standard ones aswell and have them for sale if another Z32 owner would like them.
