Hi
I wonder if someone can help? I just got my hands on a z31, i'm confused as to what model/type it is. Read every little bit of info i could find but its confused meeven more.

This is my VIN number
JN1OHGZ31V0031290

Model
KHGZ31JAQ

I belive it to be a UK car on a G plate, was also told it was a 2+2, facelift model, 3.0 v6 12v turbo engine under the bonnet.

It also has an electrical gremlin i think, i'm not sure whether it common to all cars. When the ignition is turned on i have no dash power till i start the engine and rev it and then it all goes when the ign turned off. I don't even have hazards or horn till i've done this. Checked all fuses they are good, checked ecu codes. With the engine running i'm getting 14,23,31. When i first did it without the engine running i had 13, 14, 23, 24, 31. But i'm not convinced i did it right.

Any help is gratefully recieved

Your VIN checks out on the Nissan system as a UK car built 04/89, so one of the last. VG30 engine, non-turbo with automatic transmission. The system returns and, therefore confirms, your model code. Colour code is shown as 732 which is Black Pearl.
All UK cars were 2+2 and targa roof. Leather was an available option on the facelift models.
ECU fault code 14 is vehicle speed sensor and should cancel if you drive the car at more than 6 mph while in check mode.
ECU fault code 23 is throttle position sensor and should cancel on pressing and releasing the accelerator pedal.
ECU fault code 31 will always show if you don't have air conditioning. If ai con present, this indicates a fault in the system.

Hazards and horn are wired independently of the ignition, so there is an electrical fault somewhere if these don't work with ignition off! These are powered by a separate black fusible link - if this has blown, the circuits may have been tapped into one of the other ignition controlled circuits...? Fusible links box is behind RH strut tower under the bonnet - sort of alongside (but a bit forward) the brake master cylinder.

So its had an engine and gearbox change at sometime in its life and dash, is this a simple drop in, are the looms are the same or would the loom need altering to accomodate the vg30et motor, just trying to confirm where the electrical gemlin lies, it also has a scorpion alarm fitted, these weren't standard were they. Everything else matches the spec you mention the colour it has leather seat with electric lumber support. I have a haynes manual on the way are these any help.

Thanks for your help

I have sorted the major gremlin as to why the horn and hazards didn't work, thanks Mr F it was the fusible link. Onto the next problem, does anyone know of a uk wiring diagram for front wiper system i have a haynes manual but it doesn't show what the extra orange wire is for. It also only shows 3 positions in the book but the stick moves 4. I aint gettin no intermitent or slow wiper and the owner b4 me bodged a fast wipe. I want to get it back to normal.

I think you'll find that the orange from the switch is the link to the timer control unit (under RH end of dashboard). Failure of this unit is a typical reason why intermittent wiper action stops. The timer control box also controls wash/wipe combination, headlamp motor activity and links to interior light systems and warning chime.
