Cam cover

Hi All,

Ive always had a problem getting a good seal on the cam cover, My cam towers are shimmed so the top of the tower is sitting against the small plate that is on one side of the valve cover.

Whats the purpose for this plate? Also there is some kind of hard sealant around the edge of the plate that has started to crack, I was removed my sump to give it a clean out and found a small piece of this sealant in the sump.

My question is can this plate be removed, I think its held in with a couple of screws.

Thanks

I think it stops oil from traveling into the pipe that connects to the top of the cam cover.

Someone will correct me if that's not the case, I don't really know....

Yeah your right. Just had another look at it. Looks like it's a cover to stop the oil coming out of the breather. I'll try get my hands on another cam cover as I don't trust the sealant that's breaking off it

Cheers
