Folks, I've had this warning from a very helpful Scottish member. I took noticed a scam on ebay recently (not Datsun) and got the ad 'taken down'. We have also seen the read LHD involved in a scam too so things seem to be getting worse.
I just want to let you know that the ad on e-bay for the 260z 2 seater reg UUM 835M was a scam. The seller stated that the car was located in Elgin, Scotland. Another vehicle a white van with reg UJI 1944 was in the photos sent to me by the seller. The police have confirmed these vehicles are NOT in Elgin.
I was asked to make an international payment directly from my bank to a bank in Germany. This was also part of the scam as the Police have advised that people should NOT pay for vehicles using PayPal.
So I was right to be cautious and I hope other members of the Z Club will also be cautious when viewing ads on e-bay.
I would be happy for you to put something on the Z Club site to remind members to be careful when purchasing off e-bay and to ensure there is a 12 digit item code related to the item.
In my capacity as Scottish representative for the Z Club I would be quite happy to view cars for sale in Scotland on behalf of members to verify they actually exist !!!
