Being overtaken by a Renault 19

I recently purchased my 300zx which is a jap import and my friend came past me doing 120mph, I accelerated and caught him up quite quickly but couldn't get past him !  As my rev counter in fourth gear reached around 3000 rpm it just started jolting the car andd again in fifth gear no power whatsoever, I only just got past him cause he slowed down.

Would this be the japanese speed limiter and what is best option to remove this ?

All help greatly appreciated.

The Japanese speed limiter is by-passed when you do a speedo conversion to MPH. The little black box that we do converts the speedo, raises the limiter point, raises the speed at which the warning chime "bings" at you and converts the odometer to miles.
£77.50 + VAT, four wires to attach to the back of your speedo - give me a call.

I will call you early next week to order, one thing though I don't get any sort of binging noise, the car just holds back, is that right ?

Cheers.

Some people hate the "bing" so much that they pull the plug on it or snip the wires. It normally sounds at 100Kph (approx. 60Mph. It is a separate unit to the speedo.
BTW,I am on holiday from 16th Oct until 28th, if you need to order the part call me Mon / Tues.

Does the conversion reset the limit on the cruise control? &nbsp;Does the odometer have to be reset manually to the correct mileage before converting? <img src="http://www.zclub.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':('>

Cruise control limits are automatically raised, but it's not clever enough to reset your odometer. Most would make a note of kilometres and calculate it to miles to prove mileage later if the car is sold.
