Battery cables, thoughts

The heavier gauge the better mate,,to a certain extent of course. It comes down to stiffness and how much of a struggle it will be to route the cables, cuz they do get stiff and hard to bend when you go big. Like in plumbing, the bigger the pipe the more it will flow ! :driving:

Check the draw from your starter motor.
Some cars demand 200 plus amps to crank and sometimes more!
A thin gauge wire will cope normally but if you crank and crank you can mong your leads.
A thicker (gauge) wire has better characteristics for supporting current load so i'd plump for that especially if you are planning long runs.
