Provided you're willing to do the work yourself and aren't too bothered about changing the diff to get the gearing exactly correct - it's pretty much just the cost of a 4 or 5 speed gearbox, clutch cylinder, pedal box etc. They did the process on an episode of Wheeler Dealers - a quick google should bring up the episode.

This is the car I assume?

Yeah think i saw that episode I'm looking to have someone do it as I'm not a mechanic. And yes car is that one on car and classic.what I'm trying to figure out is if the cost is too high then i will look for a 5 speed manual from europe. The interior colours on this one are also a clash so when you add it up to get it how i want it in black could be too much and not worth the spend although i think the car looks so good in silver.

This is a list the parts you will need for the conversion, although you may get some of these parts with a second hand gearbox:

Manual gearbox (obviously).
Clutch fork c/w spring and boot.
Clutch fork pivot.
Flywheel.
Flywheel backing plate.
Flywheel bolts (although I can’t remember if these are the same for auto and manual).
Pilot bushing.
Clutch with release bearing.
Clutch release bearing carrier/sleeve and spring.
Clutch master and slave cylinders with tubing and hose to connect them.
Manual pedal box.
Gear stick.
Gear stick bushing (original ones will most likely be worn).
Gear stick boot for the gearbox.
Gear stick boot for the transmission tunnel c/w retainer plate.
Gear stick gaiter and securing clips.

Silver on red a clash? It’s a classic combination to me.

Yes I like that but the rear turret cover looks dirty.

I think one of the strengths of this car is originality which would suffer with manual box and interior change. I've never driven or been a passenger in an auto 240. Perhaps the gbox would be in better condition than a similar aged manual?

I like that car, needs better wheels but looks good. Would be nice to see the condition in the flesh. Advantage here is that it’s in the UK and you can view it, bodyshell condition is primary for a Z, forget interior colour and if it’s a manual..

Find yourself an S14 box in good condition (400-500 tops) and a manual pedal box for probably around 100. Chuck another 400 in for clutch flywheel and other small parts... probably get it all fitted for 500-1k depending where in the country you are and who does it.
Interior, stick with the red, it’s a selling point imo, just freshen it up with any parts missing and some new bits as needed when you start getting into it.

Wash your mouth out EXTRA:D nothing wrong with those! The simple look, I like it.

The interior can be recoloured if necessary. If that original vinyl is in decent nick, no rips etc, it's a prime candidate for a recolour. It'll look fantastic.

Lovely looking car from the pics..you could even embrace the auto box and look for a B&M auto shifter kit.
