Astra Stages Rally

The Z Farm's Duncan Pearcey, co-driven by Mick Johnson, will be the only Z on this weekend's Astra Stages, the 2nd round of the 2006 British Historic Rally Championship which starts and finishes in Llangollen.

There is an excellent entry of 83 Historics with 11 in "our" class, Class C4. The rest are all Porsche 911's, of course, and it will be hot competition. The entry includes Jimmy McRae, father of Colin and Alastair and 5 times British Rally Champion; Steve Smith, 2005 Historic Champion; and Nick Whale, twice British Historic Champion; to mention just 3 of the 10 hot Porsche's!

Dominic Frattaroli  should be out in his new car on the next round, the Welsh Rally at the end of April. We are planning for that to be our first rally of the season too. We are also eagerly anticipating the return to competition of the well known team of Kevin Bristow & James Morris  later in the year, maybe for the Severn Valley Stages (3rd June)or the Mid Wales (24-25 June).

Best of luck to Duncan on Saturday!

I understand from the results that Duncan did not finish the Astra, dropping out on SS2 but I have not heard what happened.

Jimmy McRae was the fastest overall and Post Historic and Class C4 winner in a 911, from last year's champion Steve Smith who may have been using his Escort RS 2000 rather than the newly built Porsche pictured in Motorsport News.

Ex Touring Car Racer Patrick Watts won the Historic (pre 1968) section in a Sunbeam Tiger from 2004 Champion Dessie Nutt in a 911.

We are looking forward to the Welsh on April 29-30th but they have decided not to publish a list of "entries so far", which is a shame. They will hopefully show the seeded entry list once entries have closed on April 17th.
