The entry list is now out for this coming weekend's Astra Stages Rally starting in Llangollen at 08.00 on Saturday (9th April).

Total of 66 Historics of which 29 are Category 2 (Post Historic) running in a mixed group of 43 with the Cat 3 cars (Classic '75 to '81).

There are 8 in our class C4 but 6 of those are the 911's. Just 2 Z's!

303 is Dominic Frattaroli/Wyn Thomas
339 is Hugh & Debby Myers

The event website is astrastages.co.uk/astra05.htm

There doesn't seem to be any spectator info yet but there is an overview map of the route including the time of the first car (Historic) to each stage.

Hugh,

Don't s'pose you have any recommendations for somewhere good to view this from do you - just conscious that last year I stood getting drenched at the finish line of the Bulldog rally and no Zs finished ..!

I guess the start is a good place to make one hundred percent sure of seeing Zs, but is there somewhere useful to pick up some action photos that you (or anyone else reading this for that matter) know of ...?

Thanks

Mike

The start is at the International Pavillion in Llangollen from 8.00. Dominic will start about 8.30 we start at 9.12. Scrutineering is at the same venue on Friday pm.

For action photos go to one of the early stages such as Alwen or Clocaenog Mid and make your way into the forest. The timing for the stages is on the overview map.

First service, after 3 stages is at Ruthin Farmers Mart. We are there for 30 mins.
Second service is at Bala - car park on the left on the way to the lake - after 2 more stages. This is just 15 min service.

There is usually spectator info on the website eventually, otherwise you should be able to pick it up at the start.

Come & say hello.

Hugh,

Nice to meet you this morning! Unfortunately I only managed to see Dominic in action as I got called back home quite soon on a 'minor family emergency', so sadly I missed seeing your car on any stages ... hope you enjoyed your day.

I have posted a handful of pictures I took before heading home on my gallery here:

Dominic was 3rd Post Historic and 1st in class C4.

We had a nightmare with 2 stage maximums. One for an electrical problem which took ages to solve, the other an off which landed us on top of a tree stump for some time! Small mod to the front of the nearside chassis leg as a result! However, we did finish albeit last post historic.

Someone almost stole Dominic's car on the night before the rally. Fortunately Laurence Evans heard the car start at 04.30 and rushed outside and caught the thief!

You must admit the man has taste; he could steel a dozen or so Porsche and escorts…..
And sorry to hear about you 'accident'.

I can't believe someone would try to steal a car like that! Hope the thief didn't get away!

Hugh, I hope your fortunes improve on the next round, it must be a bit disheartening at the moment.

I too find it hard to believe that someone would want to steal such a distinctive car, it must only be for joyriding surely?
