I've taken it to a turbo specialist and the middle bearing has gone so a rebuild is needed which will be €350, i hope its worth it.
Thanks for all the replies and assistance.

Keep us posted on how it goes. I'm interested to learn what you think of the kit when operating correctly.

Glyn,
Whilst your working in that area it might be worthwhile investigating why it failed in the first place. These turbos need an excelent feed of oil to the centre bearing to lubricate and cool it. It might be worth checking for blockages etc.

Just a thought.

Yes i think i'll do that, i assume if i give it a quick turn over(i'll remove the coil lead so it doesn't actually start) oil should come out of the feed pipe?

Well the turbo is finally back and fitted on and it actually works, its no rocket but it certainly makes a difference.I've checked the oil feed and its fine so i think the bearing just died of old age.
Many thanks to all who helped.
We're returning to live in England at the end of April so we're looking forward to attending some of the Z and japfest events.
