Hi Chaps,

Ive been searching around and cannot find definitive answers on what coilovers fit.

Some have modded s13 ones including sub etc
some have integra coilovers

any help would be greatky appreciated:thumbs:

I've not heard of these. Info on these would be great. I've only seen the "DIY" kits where you cut the old spring purch off and weld in some threaded sleeves. You then use 2.25" springs. Someone else should come along soon who has actually done the conversion.

I know the yuta 240z uses integra coilovers but a 240z has different struts to a 260z

depends if it is a early or late 260Z
i know on HybridZ they are using s13 coilover kits after fitting a conversion kit.i will doing mine soon using diy coilovers but i am not welding the sleeves on ,just going to fit a perch ring as the spring should hold it all in place.

Hi Chaps,

Ive been searching around and cannot find definitive answers on what coilovers fit.

There are no direct bolt on coilovers for the S30; easiest thing for a 1-1.5" drop is to fit lowering springs.

If you really must have coilovers then you have some cutting and welding to do.

1. If you have 240Z/early 74 260Z struts (2" diameter if I remember right) then you can section the struts (cut the middle bit out) and weld on Serial9 coilover adapters, basically a threaded tube which allows off the shelf modern coilovers to screw in.

2. For 240Z/260Z/260Z 2+2 another way is to cut off the lower spring perch on the struts and weld on Ground Control adjustable coilover sleeves (they sell different sizes to fit all S30s). This is probably the cheapest coilover option.

3. If you can't afford option 1 then you can find certain coilovers that use a 2" ID steel sleeve (for 240Z/early 260Z struts) and weld those on like you would the adapters.

but there are so many s30's out there, all being restored and everything, why doesnt anyone just build a coiloverset?
there must be some brand that is willing to make a set, this " how to lower my s30 properly question" is on every Z board, some many times..

Thats what I was thinking! Surely by now there should be a coilover set. Might not be cost effective for a company tho.

Has anyone ordered the Serial 9 adapters from the states? Most of the info and parts are from US.

Any recomendations on who sells the weld in sleeves? Found them a little while ago but can't seam to find now.

ive got coilovers on my 260z front..these were built by dave jarman many years ago.might be worth asking him if he is still around..mines got koni inserts.i can do a pic tmrw if you like as brakes/susspension is off at momment.

rally design, demon tweeks or any decent rally/ competition parts supplier can supply the weld on threaded tube and retainers etc to suit 2 1/4" springs which are the most common and cheapest size used in the uk.

i got mine off ebay but i am not welding mine in as i am not really lowering it as i just want more wheel clearance on the inside of the wheels

let me know how you do moggy. Please could you document what you do and post it up?
I'm not going to attempt it until i know for certain what works on a 260z.

I am not sure what your expecting ??
A "coil over set" (S30 struts are coil overs out of the box, I presume we all mean adjustable coil overs)) is just a threaded tube that you can attach (weld or top hat) to a suspension strut and mount spring perches on and thus different length and rates of springs....its hardly rocket science.

It get a little more complex when you get into short stroke conversions for ultra lowering etc, then the precise cut down and re weld is important.

In the UK there are only a few hundred S30's so there is no specific market for a manufacturer to get hold of, in the US they tend to like bouncy springs so "coil overs" are not on every ones list. There are many many generic sleeve kits around that just need some adaptation.

If you want complete corners then in the UK there is Leda who despite being taken over some time ago still produce (I think) full set ups for an S30 (I have a set and there very good)

Arizona Z in the US do a nice system (bit blingy and the shock adjuster is a swine to get to as there at the bottom)

And as for documentation, there is a substantial amount around but you do have to look for it.
