260z 2+2 rear hatch

:S30: iv got a 260 +2 and the rear hatch is odd, when its down closed it falls short of the rear wing edges by 10mm or more??? as if its fitted to close to the roof?? also the shaping does not follow the lines of the rear quater from bellow the window the hatch slopes down to much and ends up being to low for the wing ends???? so im wondering if the 2seater rear hatch will fit a 2+2, as in it will go into the hole and bolt up but look wrong. and thats whats fitted????? as iv never needed to know this info before could some body help on this???

Hi Martin

I know for a fact they are different as Ben Stapley popped round a couple of years ago with a fiberglass one for me to try, it's shorter on a 2 seater and flatter than the 2+2, although the glass hole isn't to far off, you may have the wrong hatch, but saying that mine isn't a perfect fit, but that's 70's Datsuns anyhow.

2 seater and 2+2 hatches are different to the extreeme you mention, sorry you need to get another hatch, good news is the hatch you have is worth a few quid if in good nick.....
 
:S30: thanks guys. just got back from a mates with another hatch and ican now confirm it was a 2seater 1 fitted so ill be keeping the other 1 now for my car. so the 2seater hatch will now be up for sale cheep to get it out the way asap.
every day is a school day. thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

:S30: can anyone tell me the measurments between the hinges on a rear hatch from a 260z are both 2seaters and 2+2 measurments the same????? i need from the inside of the hinge and from the edge of the hatch to the hinge if poss

the distance between the hinges must be the same as i tried a non 2+2 one on my 2+2, it bolted on fine although the shape is very wrong..
 
:S30: went over to pmac,s this am for some bits n bobs, had a look at his 2seater hatch and can now say that they dont swap between the 2 cars. by the way its the first time iv met pete, what a blo**y nice bloke he is.
