240z no spark at plugs

Some assistance here would be very much appreciated.

There is no spark at the plugs on my 240z. what I was hoping a 240 owner could tell me is whether the 2 black and white wires around the coil ( one goes in to ballast resistor, one is +ve on the coil) should be constantly 12v when the ignition is on. On mine despite all other electrics working these 2 wires show 0v all the time with ignition on.

The engine wiring loom has been out of the car since it last ran so it is not unlikely that something is amiss.

Many thanks

There you have the answer Check connetors are clean and tight. Check fuses, power at ign.switch.Ballast should be live with ign. on.

cheers grolls, eventually traced the problem to one wire being loose in the plug at the back of the ignition switch.

That took 10 minutes to find. Trying to understand the wiring diagram in haynes book took 2 days!!!!!
