There is a 5 paged Datsun 240Z from USA in this months retro cars october 06, it is a 432R LOOK-A-LIKE orange car black bonnet ZG arches L28 engine with triple Mikuni carbs and Watanabe Wheels.

(please note that this car is not a ORIGINAL Z432R and it does not have the cross flow engine or many of the other Z432R bits so it is up to you if you want to purchase retro cars october 06 issue 40 magazine to see it)

Sorry about the last bit but got my bottom slaped last time about a Z in a magazine.

Yeh does look nice. Has it helped you decide whether you want a matt or gloss or satin bonnet yet? :)

Vented ? Yuk ! Nice colour scheme though ! Photos ?

What wrong with the vented bonnet ?

designed to let heat out of the engine bay
so keeps the car cooler
so stops over heating

Photos sorry but you will have to be at the Jap shop 8th October @ Santa pod for the new look Z will post up some pictures then.

Thanks must go to Moggy for finding/painting/selling the parts

That's not the only 240Z being featured in Retro Cars this autumn. A little bird tells me that a sensational photo shoot has been done on a certain V8 powered Z very recently.

got a problem then with that rad ? It's not that it's practical, it's just an ugly way of doing it imho ! Spoiles the line and makes it all too E-Type looking....

No rad problem every little helps , Makes it look like a E Type great its in my top 5 greatest cars of all time, sean how can it spoil the lines ? as the vents sit inside the bonnet yes if i glued a wacking great scoop on top it would,
All the parts coming off will be stored in my workshop so when i am boarded with it i can swop it all back over .Any way how is your Z running ? any problems ? please do tell

No Dave, Z is Z not Corvette/E-Type/GTO.....anyway, how about some photos ?

I know about every little helps - I do have the 280Z vents ;) but I'm surprised that you think you need it over there. When I drove up to Le Mans in early July with an air temperature of 38°c, I was caught up in a jam at Saumur and my car was fine.

I will be changing over from a three core 'std' rad. to one like yours because I'm planning next year to do a few circuit days and the average air temp. is gonna be in the high 20s/early 30s ! I looked at Arizona Z car and the photo he has on site is not flat like yours on top - did you machine yours ?

Pete - nice try ! Colour is based upon Primrose yellow but is much paler - I don't suppose most people'd notice unless I put the car up against an E but where would I find an E owner willing to be embarrassed ?

Car is okay, I'm gonna be over before Xmas to change the lsd - too noisy for comfortable road use, fix an irritating power steering leak, fit a roll cage and fire extinguisher system and maybe pick up another set of the same wheels with track tyres.....in fact, the next stage of evolution !

When are you gonna do more than a 200 mile trip in yours or does your woman hate it ?

The Rad came from mike @ MJP (no machine work was done) i should have also said i bought the bonnet to let the heat out but also i like the look ! ! !
Not had ANY PROBLEMS with the car over heating but have found that the car in warm weather get very warm inside so i hope that the vents will help by drawning hot air out of the engine bay (as they are designed to do so).
Photos will be posted soon , Mrs P loves the car

PM me Dave with the price of said rad...please.

All you got to do now is find some warm weather - all you've done is let the rain in under your bonnet !

Sean better to ask Mr F for a up todate price comes complete with top and bottom rad hoses and bolts straight in no messing

Lets rain water in under my bonnet anyway as your does !!!!
But like i said can swop and change it over 5 - 10 mins max

so what diff are you going to use ? LSD or standard

Automatic Torque Biasing diff Phil

Mike can no doubt explain more

There has been some discussion on their use on another forum I belong to with regard to their use in Mk2 escorts (sprint/Hillclimb cars) the gist of which is that there are some short comings over bumps as it doesn't cope well when one wheel is in the air.

This may not be a problem with a Z as the rear suspension is somewhat more sophisticated than a Mk2

Please note that I have not tried it for myself and Mike is more likely to know how they behave in a Z.

PS if its for the V8 check which diff it has in it-last time I saw it it had a 280ZX auto one in ( I think!)
