240z Front Windscreen Tint?

Hi All,

Ricky Evans has a front windscreen in stock but they tell me my existing one will either have a blue or a green tint.

I could swear blind it has no tint at all, as confirmed by holding a white sheet behind it! For those of you who have bought from Ricky, were you able to source a non tint version or did you choose a blue / green colour?

Many thanks, Nick D

Zeds are blue tint front screen from the factory to match all the other glass. I know a lot of new screen come green tint by default. ALL glass has a tint to it and the thicker the glass, the more it is noticeable. It is also difficult to see tell if its blue or green tint unless you are comparing them side by side. Another thing to consider is that new screens seem to come out thinner than the factory ones so the tint will appear less. I have bought at least 6 screens from Ricky Evens Motorsport and they have all been blue tint.

What market was your car originally sold in? If the front screen is original it will have a stamp marking on it (Nissan Asahi Temperlite) which gives the tint/non-tint code.

Japanese market 'Standard' models got clear, non-tinted glass. 'Deluxe' models got tinted glass.

Most Export markets got tinted glass, but factory parts manual covering RHD Export market cars shows both tinted and non-tinted part numbers.

Thanks for your reply.

It is a US car and the screen is stamped with LP ASAHI AS1 Dot 20. There is also a "M-35G" mark

Ah, OK. The very first North American market cars (probably only a few hundred at the most) got the 72631-E4600 clear, non-tinted windscreen, but after that they got a blue/green tint.

I guess with screens it's sometimes hard to know if they have been replaced or not over a few decades. I've seen a few non-OEM replacements which are noticeably different (especially on USA cars) and they often had very strong top-tints.

If you really want a non-tinted one I suppose it will have to be a special order.
