Hi there, just wondering if anyone knows whether my '72 240z should have one or two choke levers? The centre console (could be a replacement) only has a slot for one and at present I'm using an aftermarket choke which has been screwed to the side of the dashboard! Thanks. Frazer

Cars with the early centre console had a second slot available for a hand throttle, so you may see pics of non-UK cars with what looks like a second choke knob. All UK cars had only the single choke knob operating a double cable.

OK great that clears it up. Now the problem is I have what looks to be the correct choke lever/cable, but it doesn't line up with the screws on the underside of the centre console... And I'm assured that the choke is from an early UK 240. Mmm. Thanks though.

You might have the right choke cable / bracket but do you have the right centre console???

The choke cable type is matched to the console type - thus two types of console, two types of choke cable. Also the 260Z console / cable relationship is different again. However, when looking at part numbers for 240Z full choke cable assemblies, i.e. bracket, knob, grommet etc. as a unit, there have been nine different part numbers (not to mention a further four for auto models we didn't have!) for the L24. Plus another three for 260Z / L26. Although differences may be minor and some conditional retro and forward fitting is possible, it is easy to see how the cable assembly from one car may not exactly match the console from another after thirty years...
