Yes those bits that go round the lenses on the 260 and accross on the 240.me and a freind have found someone who can possibly rechrome them.we have been quoted a lot of money,so if their is any zedders out there that need theirs rechromed thendrop me a line,we are talking about 50 quid which considering you cant get them anymore aint bad i suppose, how many Zeds arse end are spoilt by those bits that have just faded over the years.if there is anyone that knows of any other places that can do it then that would be appriciated

I'm no expert on chroming but my local car restores got some chroming done for a 1930's Chevvy thing. Door handles and some trim (not much) came to £2k!

The difference apparently is before it's chromes the metal is coated in copper so the chroming lasts a long time. Anyway might be worth seeing if the place your taking it to will copper it first (if my memory serves me right) and for how much more?

Good idea, wish I had a Z in which case I'd join you

Metal chroming no problem - the bits "status" is offering to get done are PLASTIC. The techniques required are the same as those used to produce the chrome bits for plastic model kits. Very few companies left who will do this, so this is an unusual offer - if you want good looking 260Z and 240Z rear lights, then jump to it. When it's gone, it's gone.

I have just got the plastic tail light trim off my 260 rechromed. Sent them to a place in Canada called CV Vacuum Platers. Job was poor 1st time round. Had to send them back to cure runs and orange peel. Service was poor. Expensive. Finish is now very easily marked.

Items look good now though but the whole process was expensive (duty and carriage etc) and frustrating.

Ahhh I see

Sounds like an even better offer, let us know the results.

Try too intense restore. they are offering restored units at $232.50 they also seem to be manufacturing all those hard to get trim items.
I've not used them yet so would be interested to hear from anyone that has.

I've used Intense Restorations in the States, I bought a set of new seat covers for my 240Z seats and I've sent for some other stuff, The guys name is Troy if I remember correctly, no problems with them, I'd recommend them.
