    Respray

I’ve got a guy in between Tewkesbury and Gloucester that I’ve known for over 20 years. If you look for my Fairlady ZL thread you’ll see some work he’s done on my car and my thoughts on him. He only does classic work. He also has a good mate who is an amazing upholsterer and is well known in the...

What did you do to your Z this week?

Evening all. I’m currently in Dallas, getting a break from cars and renovating the new house. I just came across this at a car show that we happened across in Arlington. I thought I’d share. I couldn’t get any better interior photos as the owner wasn’t around and I didn’t want to...

Cali coming to the UK again........a few questions.

I’m only 30 minutes from Bourton On The Water. It’s pretty and generally nice, but heavy on the tourists, so plenty of chip shops and ice cream shops. There’s also a year-round Christmas shop. Stow On The Wold is a short distance away and is arguably a nicer way to experience the Cotswolds if...

Can you make one 6’ wide for my garage wall? That would look great.

    Brake issues - help required!

I removed the 1” cylinder and got a 3/4” Wilwood Instead. It made an instant difference. There was absolutely no need for a clutch in a road car to drive like that in my opinion. Are you sure your 1” cylinder is going to give you comfortable brake modulation with an OEM calliper/wheel cylinder...

Car stalls when depressing clutch when coming to stop light

I have the same system and have had to troubleshoot the same issue. What is your TPS voltage at idle in the information screen? The system doesn’t like it to be 0.0V, so if it is then I suggest preloading the TPS by rotating it around the throttle shaft slightly and then running the TPS and IAC...

    Brake issues - help required!

If you’re not getting an idle speed increase when operating the brake then I’d say it’s unlikely that you have a vacuum leak. Have you checked the rod is not riding too tight. eg too much preload. Try dialling it back a little. The 1” MC is shifting more weight of fluid over the same given...

Does anyone know this eBay V8 280Z?

I spotted this earlier. As a self admitted american car weirdo I kind of like the 350 cu.in small block chevy addition. Does anyone know the car? I've not seen it around before...

    Early 240Z at Auction

Yes, the ad did say - "Front driver’s seat has been retrimmed and refurbished by a company in California". Crucially, It also said - "Historically significant in the world of Japanese sports cars, an original right-hand drive import in this condition makes it not only beautiful, but...

    Fixing a holy fuel tank

I took three days over the whole process of doing our 280Z tank. The inside was like treacle and was rancid. The outside was excellent but the paint was thin and worn. I think I documented the process in the thread that we started for the car if you want to dig into it yourself. That time...

    1973 Fairlady Z - refurb and fix

Ever since I got the car I had in mind that I would like to put it back to having an L20 2 litre - as it would have been from new. At some point in its near-50 year life it had lost the original engine and was fitted with a newer conglomeration out of a 280Z - most likely in the late 1980's when...

What did you do to your Z this week?

I was the lucky buyer. It’s going to be put into my Fairlady ZL to replace the 280Z motor that it gained at some point in its life in the USA. That helps to balance karma in my book.

    I'm going 1JZ

Wow, that's a sight to see. £2.25 for a bacon roll! Kidding. The car looks great, although the front number plate says "do stop me for a chat, officer".

    Sunbaked '76 Cali 280z

From memory the tank outlet to pump inlet hose is 3/8” (10mm) internal diameter. It’s typical that the suction side of most pump systems is larger than the delivery side. Fluid dynamics innit. I’m sure the larger hose you‘ve circled is 5/8” (16mm) internal diameter. I’ll check this out and...

    260Z 5 Speed Transmission

Be aware that type911 will add 4% plus VAT to your order for using PayPal express checkout. Not a big deal, but “fees” of any sort do annoy me. Especially when they could have been avoided with sufficient warning. Paying someone extra for their cost of doing business is never easy to swallow for...
