i cheated and got my local garage to do it (sorry i'm a fan of the car, but know nothing about engines), and he put in 5L. however, i do have a bit of a leak, so perhaps it was coming out as quickly as it was going in.

Can anyone help.  When for a long drive at the weekend, and after about 50 miles my gearstick and transmission tunnel  became hot to touch.  The car felt fine and there were no other obvious symptoms.  Does anyone know what could cause this and what i need to do to fix it. Thanks

It took me 9 months to find a good UK manual turbo 300.  I just kept an eye out on Autotrader, and ended up buying private.  If you do decide to buy private i would recommend the AA car check service.  For £245 i got an AA mechanic to carry out a 2 hour check, covering absolutely...

good news it that it was both a blown bulb and blown fuse, and Halfords fixed it for £5, including putting the bulb in.  Never thought you could get such great service from a national chain.  Thanks to everyone for their help and suggestions.
