When I had this problem,I always remember you needed the arms of Garth to select 1st or reverse. But once selected, if you took it back to neutral and reselected again straight away it was alot easier.Any longer than this and it became a problem again.

I also had this problem,its your stop pin,located under the gearshift gaiter.All I did was take it out and oil it,I was told you can leave them out but did,nt need to as it locates just fine now.

Hi all, Can anyone suggest possible reasons why gear selection on my 240 is very heavy! Reverse gear especially requires the arms of garth to locate,but try again straight away and locates quite easily. Theres a new clutch fitted and underneath the gaitor is all clear...

Hi Tony           I was at a car/bike show earlier this year and on one of the stands was S.C.C.(SPECIALISED CAR COVERS).If you give them all relevant dimensions or car type they make a cover to suit,but not cheap,about 200 quid(inc vat).Look very good though,waterproof...
