I didn't remove the ballast resistor because it said only remove for the xr3000?
Are you supposed to install a different cap and rotor when installing this ignition? I recall the rotor arm sitting a lot higher after the install.
Yes, that makes a lot of sense. I wasn't confident fitting the ignition system because the instructions didn't have a dizzy that looked like mine. Can you confirm the firing order and does anyone know of a good Xr700 installation guide so I can start again?

Great stuff! All the pertronix kits i've come across are listed for early 240z'. So i wasnt sure if they would work on a '78 260.
I've now got my eye on a cranes kit. Its the xr3000 plus a fireball coil, shipped for £140.
Seems like a good deal.
Finally sorted it. I got the multimeter out today and found that 12v wasnt going through the ballast resistor so i bypassed it and she started.

No joy from cleaning contacts unfortuantly. I did remove the front bumper before the problem arose. Had to disconnect the indicators from a bank of taped up joints. But all the connections look fine from a visual. And i am getting blue sparks at the plugs.
