This first picture shows the cylinder head set up on the mill table with the cutting pilot installed in an intake guide. I then use the finger dial indicator and run it up and down the full length of the pilot in two directions to square the ?head of the mill? to within .0001? of the pilot which is true in the guide. This keeps the ?mill head? true to the valve guide so that the valve seat will be cut ?square? to the valve stem, not tilted or canted.
