240z paint colour code 113

Hi Guys,
Datsun colour code 113 was only available in America on the 240z. Currently I’ve only seen American vendors selling this paint who don’t ship internationally. Does anyone know if there is a way of getting that paint in the UK?

You can't really buy any of the Z paints off the shelf - they all need to be formulated to match. Your best bet is to find someone with a car that colour and find out the actual paint formula they used. Or borrow / buy a small part in that colour and get it matched by a paint shop.

Buying a part in that colour makes perfect sense, the only issue I may face is that if it’s faded since it was originally painted. Are you aware of any club members who have this colour? I also read somewhere on this forum that someone has a list of formulations for most of the colours? Or am I imagining things lol

#113 Green Metallic was not exclusive to the USA market. It was a stock factory colour for the world Export market.

Original Nissan UK paint formulas for repairs (GLASURIT brand paint) were quoted as:

'Line 21' range:
377,5 g M 98/15 Aluminium
394,0 g M 26 Tiefschwarz
533,0 g M 96 Dunkelgrun
938,5 g M 43 Gelborange
1000,0 g A 135 Braun

and

'Line 20' range:
100,0 g Sikkens 705-15
269,0 g M 98/15 Aluminium
271,5 g M 2 Schwarz
350,5 g M 96 Dunkelgrun
944,5 g A 147 Gelb
1000,0 g A 135 Braun

Hopefully a specialist automotive paint supplier would be able to cross-reference those formulas with their own data.

However, I would say that - in my experience, and not being a paint expert - modern paints tend to look quite different from the types of paint that Nissan and other mnfrs used 50 years ago, and even when you have the same paint code it will look somehow a half tone off. Its a very technical subject.
 
Most modern paint systems won't even have this colour on there system. The best they can is mix something similar.
Alot of systems don't even use colour chips anymore, they use paint scanners instead.
 
So are we going to see DIL resurface like this one day?

The car is so far removed from stock an original colour isn't going to get you anywhere really. My thought would be to go with a modern colour as close to 113 as you can get.

Out of interest do you have the paint mix breakdown for 907 green? My USA import is a September 1971 car and I think that it is 907 Green although it no longer has the paint code sticker and it has also had a poor respray.

I cant find any information about paint mixes in the UK for that paint code and dont know if its a colour that was available in the UK.

Here’s an interesting factoid on 907. The PPG paint code for it is 44403. 44403 also happens to be PPG’s code for MG dark British Racing Green, Rover code GN29. I.e. 907 and GN29 are the same colour (according to PPG anyway). GN29, being a British manufacturer shade, is much more easily available.

Try Skoda Rallye Green, it’s not too far off.
I believe the Gas Monkey Car was 113 with a touch more pearl added.
I’ve got the same dilemma over which green to choose, have a look at BMW Java Green

Interesting thanks. I had found the 44403 but hadnt linked it to the Rover GN29 code
 
Obviously it doesn’t account for all the shades either side of standard, but it’s something to go on. Might be worth grabbing a custom colour-mixed aerosol to see how it looks.
