Z Club Drag Challenge 2010

Looks like I'm going to have to wimp out again.. apparently a first wedding anniversary is more important.. and santapod strangely wasn't taken as the best place to go for it either..

I'm now going to have to wait until August :(, but good luck everyone

Round 1, Rebuilding @ home
Round 2, ET 13.5429 @ 110.97 mph
Round 3, ET 13.3113 @ 111.54 mph.

If the weather stays good I am going to see if I can get an ET in the 12s before the end of the year. Looking at other 300ZX Z32TTs my top speed is good for it and I can get more from my engine if necessary but I am going to retain standard weight and road tyres to stay in class 5.

Mike, did you watch the Photobucket clip? It looked impressive 12.12 and then I thought blimey Darren has done 12.25 I think!

The car is great - the seats are really out of character. And yes, only just over a tenth quicker than Darren's best...

To be fair, I found that low twelves was about as good as the V8 could do in my old 240Z when traction limited by street tyres. As the guy says, proper drag tyres could take over a second off.

There will be a meeting and, unless an official rain-off is called, points for any runs made will count for the Challenge.

Back to Santa Pod this Saturday looks like being good weather again.

I’m going to do a rear tyre change for this event to see what happens. I am removing my 10J wheels that have 275/35ZR17 Bridgestone Expedia S01 tyres. I have used these at all the other events this year and they have never had softener on. I will be fitting some 9J wheels with old but not worn Marangoni Zeta 255/40ZR17 that have been given some GRIP tyre softener last week. They came on a breaker Z32 I had but until now never been on my car, I want to save my Bridgstones.

Metros are shite to look at but there's one in my factory (one of my partners cars) It's a space frame thing ,2ltr Vauxhall motor and the most savage diff ever. I drove it round our industrial estate and it was so fast and dificult to handle I nearly crapped myself.

Well a few Metros are ok...

A friend of mine has a fairly quick one, which managed to break a rolling road whilst reading 650BHP.

Yes it is a 6R4 and no it's not standard:D
