Steve I did it.

I posted a Thread about a Tidy 260 that some of you may not have seen. After all I thought we were all Z fans. There was some initial interest in the car and the pros and cons of Samuris. A couple of people said something along the lines of 'interesting I hope this Thread doesn't go the same way as others' but sure enough it did and ended up just being a series of personal attacks with the occassional mention of a car and human anatomy .

It's so predictable and pathetic. I posted the Thread and I deleted it - it had served it's purpose and been abused.

If you expect me to go through the thread and edit all the '****' out of it and then get a load of abuse for doing so you can think again! I've got enough to do with Committee work and Membership Sec duties.

Will those of you who want to argue, rip into each other about anything, discuss marital status, size of penis' etc do it somewhere else and not on here and especially not in my Thread. I'm on here for interesting discussions and technical info plus news on events.

Just think about it - if I showed my wife that 'Tidy' thread she would be shocked at the rubbish that gets posted on here.

I know some of you will try to justify your input and again 'rip' into me. Don't waste your time and if enough of you think strongly enough I will resign - I don't need this anymore. I'd rather spend time with my family and driving my cars.

I have no intention of "ripping" in to you or justifying what I said or didnt say... However I would like to ask a little further about your decision to "delete" it from general view.

1. Did you make the decision yourself or was it discussed with any other moderstor/s??
Im not entirely sure that Im comfortable with Nigels assertion that.....
It was Rob's thread, and Rob had the right to delete it if he saw fit,
If it contained offensive material or contavened the clubs AUP then fair enough. Im not so sure that deleting it cos your wife woulnt like it

is/was a valid reason to delete the whole lot..
At the very least some "moderator discussion " would have been advisable.

If you expect me to go through the thread and edit all the '****' out of it .... you can think again.
Well actually that might have been the correct course of action. IMO of course and is exactly what happens on the other Nissan forum I belong to. Anything that is obscene. inflamatory or illegal gets deleted leaving the rest to carry on.

enough of you think strongly enough I will resign
Now thats just plain silly talk.
You are doing a perfectly good job as membership secretary.
Please carry on as usual with that.
But do remember that car club forum chat isnt actually real life. Its just "car club forum chat"
and remember what Nidge said to me... or was it you....?????
This is a car club not a computer club;)

Anyway Im bored now and its passed bedtime for old gits like me so Ill get me horlicks and set the alarm......:D... A busy day in Matlock awaits.
Anyone need any tablets??????? For anxiety, depression, anger management, lack of Libid*
:lol::lol::lol:

Rob (et al) if you wanted to get a thread back on track, deal with the cause not the symptom.... yellow card the offender(s) but leave the thread intact
If there is offensive material in a post edit it, if you haven’t got time, fair enough, we are all busy people (just like I will be when I retire:p) just ask me I would have done it in a few minutes its no big deal and preserves the good stuff.

The frustration is that the thread contained some interesting points for debate and possible new information (its good to learn right:thumbs:) instead a rather draconian (and questionable) approach was taken that is a bit of a snub to those that have taken the time to write, review and post “considered” replies ….equally one could argue that those people own their post as much as you owned the thread and as such should have had a degree of input into the decision.

As for resigning, well that’s your decision to make, however its not one I would support or want to see.....I’ve been where you are and was the subject of some pretty underhand tactics ..... (yes boys and girl, you know who you are sitting around at JapFest plotting and scheming thinking you wouldn’t be overheard), so I know how demanding and sometimes soul destroying it can be.

Steve, good points.

Extract from 2011 AGM Minutes (taken and written by me):

It was decided that we would move ‘posts’ giving concern into storage immediately from now on and avoid the aggravation of discussing them whilst ‘live’.

We still have the Thread.
