Yep, same as you do with using a credit card or cashing a cheque Nothing is free with banks

Um... when was the last time I was charged for using a cheque?

Maybe you should use google checkout, I believe they have less or no fees, depending on your status.

Paypal fees are pretty competitive, and the convenience is worth the extra 5p or something.

All business get charged for every cheque paid in and also takes more of the comittee members time to process it so Paypal is very usefull for the club.

Paypal is tons better than services like worldpay etc... But google checkout is competitive too. Worth 5 minutes to look over and see if its for you

PayPal is good when everything is going good but not when you are the victum of fraud perpertrated through it, then its not so good! We had around $4000 stolen through it and trying to sort it out was a nitemare. Four months have gone by and althogh we now have the money back the matter is still not fully sorted. Be carefull and check every transaction.

But that was not the fault of Paypal and the good thing that came out of it was it highlighted a glitch in our database.
Hopefully it is now fixed and shouldn't happen again
