3. Juha Kankkunen/Juha Repo - FIN/FIN - Datsun 240Z
The crew has been forced to withdraw after Juha Repo fell ill during the night. The crew drove drive directly from the Masai Mara to Nairobi. More information to follow when available.

Juha Repo, the former co-driver of Juha Kankkunen has a brain tumor. The duo Kankkunen & Repo were driving the historic Safari Rally but they had to retire from it after Repo was having an epileptic fit.

Comforting news are that the tumor is said to be in an "easy" location which makes it easier to operate after they have medicated it.

Two guys wearing datsun tee shirts the tall one is datsfun aka Preet Dhanjal and the shorter guy next to him is always at the JAE at Billing

It was great, easily the best time I have had. Just to be there and see and feel the great cars from the 70's roaring through the wild african terrain was an absolute pleasure.

I think we took over 400 pics [still waiting for to download them on to a website] and also nearly 2 hrs of video:D :D

As for the baby blue 240;) , I was told engine failure forced them to retire in Tanzania . Only saw it on 2 competitive stages as it dropped out very early on in the rally.

How was it?!!! I will tell you ..... Amazing, awesome, Fantastic, Great .... did I mention HOT? Temperatures up to 37 Degrees C!! I am still in Thermal Shock!!

Larry Horn - As far as I am aware they had overheating problems - I am sure someone will correct me if I am wrong - cracked or Faulty block? The Car and team performed extremely well on the first two days - the stage times show that. I feel extremely sorry for the team - they had prepared well. But I am afraid it is one of those things - you simply cannot look at every eventuality. Had they not had had that problem I am sure we would have seen another Z in the Top as well. Best of Luck to them for next year, I am sure they will do very well.

So anyone want to do the next one in 2006?!!!

Datsfun - You do get around don't you?!! Not surprised considering you went through two hire cars on the whole event!!!!!!!!

Have a look at the picture below, it appears that the time control official;) is on the look out for a "zed", much to the dismay of the opel driver:devil:  ...

Holly**it what happened to the 39 car, did he met an elephant???
I though you knew...they rolled the car on a flat out section, apparently they lost the back end and it just flipped over a few times. It was repaired extensively and they finished. A great testament to how good teh s30 is and how well it hade been prepared by Duncan[Zfarm]

Looks like it!! I spoke to the service crew ...this is the story ....

On a extremely straight road and at very high speed he tried to slow the car down by down shifting , he was trying to avoid a deep rut or something. I believe the rear wheels locked and you can imagine what happened next - the car "snaked" and flipped over. Apparently it was alot worse, the picture you see is after they had done some work on it to bring it back into the rally!!!

Bravo to them for finishing the event. It is a hard event and my hats go off to everyone who even attempt it!

Datsfun - 3 cars?!!! I am shocked - remind me not to recommend you to a hire company!!!

What a great picture of the Official! :D

I am sure this was the same driver that asked for a beer when he got to my Control!! After you left "SAME" (name of the control point) - We got hit by a sand storm - some serious winds and rain as well!!!! All out equipment got blown away and I had to pay one of the locals to go look for my control signs!!!! :D :D :D
