I don't know if my wipers are original!!!

Are there any markers or things I can look at to tell?

Has anyone got a source in the UK for new windscreen wiper arms or even new pins for the original arms as mine are really worn?

I read somewhere that MX5 arms may fit??

cheers:thumbs:

What do you mean by new pins? The post the arm bolts to?

Where is your wear? Worn splines?

Wiper Configuration

Here is a scan of the 1977/78 model year UK (RHD) brochure (black-finished wiper arms and blade carriers). The scan illustrates that the passenger side wiper blade sits under the wiper arm, i.e. the wiper blade pin is pushed up from the bottom, whereas on the drivers side it is inserted from the top.

Wiper Arms

Here are a couple of images of some RHD 1977/78 wiper arms (08/76 on). At the top of each photograph is P/N 26380-N3500 (RH side) and at the bottom P/N 26385-N3500 (LH side).

I have the correct arms etc, what I need are the pins or an alternative to replace the arms etc,
I can't be the only person with worn wiper arms?

What do you think of replacing wiper blade pins with M5 bolts secured with locknuts and nylon washers?

Also just replaced my fuel filter today and the car ran like **** with fuel starvation, problem was the cheap nasty ebay filter, as replacing it with a new MJP one solved the problem!!
Beware of cheapo products!!:(

Does anyone have an idea on how long the blades should be? I would like to get some new ones possibly from TEX but would need to know their length.

Yes Andrew, mine are 18" both sides. I still have the twin-wire Trico blades and I was wondering if the rubbers have ever been replaced? I know that sounds unbelievable but I'm going to try to establish that.

Not sure if we have gone definitive with 18", might hang out for a bit longer before I jump in with a purchase. Thanks for replying though guys.

Ok having now studied my service manual 18" it is.
