Rota RBR wheels staggered .

Very clean looking car and the Watanabes suit it perfectly. A bit of stretch and camber being used there a squeeze them in. And some stiff suspension I would suggest! There are probably 16x8 et0 and 8.5 et-6; could be the next size up though (8.5 front, 9 et-13 rear). Difficult to tell.

Also highlights how US owners are starting to embrace the JDM look rather than the (IMO fussy, cra@ppy) USDM style.

Anyone suggest any other wheels what would look bad ass on the stance scene? Also gotta be available in the UK as it's Hastle importing .

What size would you say these wheels are? 14x7?

Thats how i'd like mine to sit.

I would say 14x7 or 7.5 with zero offset and 215/60 or 225/60 -14 tyres...which incidentally are impossible to find nowadays in UK in good quality brands etc

Work Meister CR01's - although not sure what the process of buying them is in the UK.

I do like those RichieP, 15x8 in bronze on my orange car is what I'm thinking :) however part of me wants a nice 14x7 set in the right offset to give the car a 'darty' look. It should also feel a bit more lively to steer also. I like this forum, its a place full of first world problems:)

Coming back to the earlier comment that I missed (!), I agree on the 15x8 bronze RKRs. I want to fit these to my Fairlady Z (replacing the gunmetal 15x7 Compomotive MLs I have now). They will do failing stumping up the big money for some Watanabes!

Incidentally, I noticed last night that seller Wheelbay on eBay in the US now has some 15x9 RKRs in 4x114.3 with ET-15. That is starting to get much more like it for filling some overfenders on a Z. Maybe some 9.5s ET-20ish and suddenly there's a good JDM-replica option for all four corners.

Another wheel manufacturer to consider actually is Compomotive. As on my car, the MLs do look a lot like Watanabes (more so than the Minilites that I assume the ML stands for). Compomotive will also do them in a very wide range of sizes and offsets pretty much to order if I'm right. And you can get them from the factory in gunmetal. They could be an economic UK option to give the right offset look and style. In fact, looking on the site, they do 15x9 from ET0 to ET-24, and 15x8 from ET0 to ET-12.

I did once call compomotive but they're twice the price of rotas, also lacking a bit of the needed 'dish'. As i'm not building a horse power monster I'm really thinking about going for a smaller wheel and the handling benefits that'll bring, the look of the orange car is what i'd like, without a larger wheel and a front spoiler it looks a little cleaner and bit more 'darty' if that makes sense? However finding a nice 14x7 or 7.5 in the right offset with a dish is next to impossible, so I'll more than likely end up going for the RKR in 15x8 bronze but with a 205 section so the tyre sits square. If I had a JDM car like yourself it'd be even harder to decide.

205 is what I intend to do should I switch to the RKR 15x8s from the ML 7s, on which I run 205/60/15s. It maintains the arch clearance and gives me room to lower it a bit more should I desire without rolling the arches (which I will entertain under no circumstances!).

Ok then for example I went for the rota RB or RBX in 16" form what offset would I want to fill overfenders ?

6.5J Watanabe's for about £500 inc. shipping costs  (I use Buyee to search because it's quicker and then BidJDM to buy)

I think you need to decide what overfenders you're going to use as some stick out more than others. I'm guessing the offset will be the same for any wheel and depends on the width.

Using Watanabe R-Type as the example (Rotas not widely available atm in 15 or 16 with the required width or negative offsets so not a good example), a typical Z setup could be 8.5 ET-6 front, 9.5 ET-19 rear. There are also 9.0 ET-13s (which could go either end) and sizes 10" wide and up with mega negative offsets (and prices).

As Franky says, not all flares are the same; the ZG and 432 versions are different and there are some wider aftermarket versions to allow for wider tyres (datsun dave on the forum has the wide ones on his car to cope with the 10 or 10.5 Watanabes he has on the rear).

Was thinking the Gz fenders in the new year but got my heart set on the watanabe wheels or the rota replica rims.... Not fussed if there not the full on wantabe wheels as long as they look the same.

The rota wheels from the ones I've seen can have the hub mounting face skimmed as there's always loads of 'meat' on the hub face, the offeset ones have less so I guess all they do is skim the back to give the offset they sell.

Something to bear in mind is if you're running roll centre adjusters (also known as bump steer spacers) then 14 inch rims are not an option, and in fact plenty of 15 inch rims won't fit either.

For what it's worth I have 17 inch RKRs on my z, 8.5 -10 on the front and 9.5 -20 on the back with 'standard' width zg style flares, and to be honest the front could do with a little more width or more negative offset to fill out the flares. Negative offset would be preferable as the steering is about as heavy as I'd like it to be, any more would be uncomfortable.

Tyre wise I have 225/45s on the front and 245/40s on the back, tiny bit of stretch but not enough to look ridiculous, and speedo ratio is pretty much spot on. The main reason I went with 17 inch wheels is tyre choice, second reason I think would be any future brake upgrades wouldn't run into clearance issues.
