RIPS 240z wins NZs biggest Pro Street Event

Had a good day at the drags yesterday.
We entered the Pro Street division for cars in full street trim on street tyres, with full exhaust, mufflers, full interior etc.
We qualified No1 with a 9.2 and went on to win the event running consistant 9.1s.
This was done without NOS and much lower boost than we have been testing on the dyno with.
The reason for this was we wanted to test our 60ft setup and we found we smoked the tyres real bad untill we dropped the boost and power right back.
We had some nice wheelstand action for about 50 meters and it was almost carrying the wheels in top gear as well.

All in all a good day, won the Pro Street division and found some good gains in the 60fts (low 1.4s measured off the rear wheels)
Even made it onto the TV news!! lol.

Here's a couple of links:

Absolutely awesome! Love the wheelstand, you will be needing a glass floorpan!!!
Keep up the good work guys!:thumbs::thumbs:

Awesome, awesome, awesome Rob!!! I saw the vid the other day, somewhat on the impressive side.:p Are you going to come and show the RIPS mobile off at Taupo?

When is that again? maybe e-mail me so we can keep in touch rips@inspire.net.nz

Turns out we were roasting the torque converter and losing alot of drive, (7000rpm on the transbrake) the converter expert guy thinks we were missing 3-4 10ths and 5-7mph easy even on the low power we were using so should be good once fixed and we can wind the power back into it, just got to keep the front down!!

Will do Rob. :) At our Zclub (NZ) Meremere Day in November, you know the other Rob with the white old school Supra, managed to wreck his trans-brake. Carl (Zfetsh) would have told you about that.
