RB260z

Glad to say it didn't take as long to get that paint off

After fixing the lawnmower, cleaning up me shed and dumping some rubbish it was time to get back at the Z
Both outer door skins are now back to metal
No nasty filler or bumps under the paint either which was a result

Both hung on the car ok so ...

Had time to clean a few of the other panels

Outer scuttle, 2 lower panels, front panel and no plate holder back to metal

Also pulled the tailgate off and glass out so will get into that tomo :D

.... and it was

Tailgate now down to metal ..... inside n out

Solid aswell so no need to go looking for another !

Tad windy today so was time to do the main job ....

Time for ........ docter looooof

hrs later I had all the roof down to metal

Deffo not a job I want to do again !!

Then cleaned the tailgate shuts back to bare metal

Takes a long ol time for what looks like very little

Still another step nearer

You don't mess about do you? It looks like it will be back on the road before Datsun Dave.

Chalk n cheese
Daves will aways be a master piece comp with mine

I want mine done n on the road yesterday ;)
So yes I'm not that bothered, I just want to fix n enjoy my car :)

Daves deserves the time it needs

I rekon you should just get some laquer on it and leave it as is ... will certainly be different lol :D

Aswell as save me a packet :D

But the work must go on !
Now the lighter eves are here its a case of get in from work and spend a few hrs cleaning up a few random bits n bobs
Also ordered a few new door hinge pins as mine are a little worn lol

By chance I found a pair of rear lower repair panels
Right result as I've been trying to find these for a while

Finished off cleaning up a few other areas under the bonnet n then had a go at a few rusty bits
Started on the bulkhead as I was already in there :D

Not sure if thats the right way or if I should just open them three holes to one large hole?

Then cut what was left of the o/s gearbox brace out of the tunnel
Not essential but it should help the box fit up a little easier

Found a few small holes ... so made them into big holes lol

Need to fit a new diff mount so another mission to look forward to next :smash:

Well I got a far as removing the mr stumpy propshaft and the old exhaust then had a change of plan :)

Best finish the front as the mount could wait for another day

So I dropped out the front crossmember to get at the underside of them chassis rails

After that n another day looking like the cole man I cleaned up more random parts

All I need now is to learn how to weld lol

welding is not that bad to learn, best to use pulse and plug welding and a half decent welder that starts from about 30 amps as a one that starts at 60 amps will blow holes in the panels .pulse welding is when you just keep pressing the trigger on off on off so that it gives it chance to cool slightly for when you trigger again .plug welding is easy just drill a hole in the panel that overlaps your repair and fill it with weld in a slight swirling motion .the thread on here with the old vauxhall victor had some very good tips for making up your panels and them clarke metal folders are crap ,i just use 2 bits of angle iron to make mine and a hammer

I think I will give a shout out when I get round to having mine done. I have the advantage of plenty of tea and coffee to offer as well. It needs a couple of patches done on the underside of the rear wings.

Pins in

Few mm shorter then o/e but will still do the job

Deffo tightened up the slop

Whilst its in bits I may aswell tidy up them suspension parts

Not sure that bird was so impressed

Esp as I had nicked their birdy feeder lol

Check out me daffs ..... What bore do you think they are :D

Roll bars out drying as are the strut tops
I need to remember the xmember before september ....

now thats the best bird feeder i have seen !!!!! you just need some racing pigeons in the garden now

Up up and away !

Atlast .. its now gone to a better place

When will we see it again ?

Who knows, but the mrs is happy its out of the garden :D

She won't be when it comes home again :D

Sadly no
As it was, without flares it would just about fit through the 6ft fence panel gap :)
When it comes back it will no longer fit

Unless I tell her we need a new cough wider cough fence panel :D

Atlast its painted n ready to roll
So seemed an appropriate date to bring it back home :D

Not sure where I put all the bits mind lol
