new classified system is poor.

andy, sorry for being harsh but it's hit a nerve
.
but why are we given the choice when placing an ad?
if your going to just place it back.
i'm presuming if i chose members only it would stay closed to the non-members, period?
it needs a quick note to explain with both options.
not everyone trawls through the forums to know the system,

Not a problem :) It will take some getting used to.

You're given the choice because they are the categories that you're 'allowed' to post in. Whatever you chose, it will go into the moderation queue and be placed into members only for 7 days.

I'll admit we've fallen short by not making it clear cut from the start and for that I apologise - the trouble is that sometimes, to see the effect of something you have to implement it before you can explain its workings to the members.

Cheers,

Andy

I have just got in, read this thread and I'm absolutely disgusted (and to be honest offended and upset) by the personal comments aimed at me, a Committee Member.

I could write a lot but that would be wasted on those who have made the comments, they will convince themselves that my services to this Club are worthless and misguided.

Gwyn, you are one of the people who have shocked me. However to answer your question about abuse of the Classified system - abuse is when people who are not Z Club members virtually trade via it. They are using a Club that is funded by paying members to run a sideline/business.

On the subject of William Galliers (who you say thinks I'm a 'knob') he would be welcome on here as a Trader as long as really does not think that about me.

THIS IS DIRECTED AT NOBODY,
Don't take things the wrong way, William's use of the word knobs is in that the club does not want him to help you members/website members out with quality parts, it won't bother him in the slightest he could retire tomorrow but I know about the passion he has & always had for these cars & the contacts he has all over, it was music to my ears when he said he would try abit with the Z cars again, at the end of the day it was going to be a valuable source of parts & cars sold after viewing in the uk with all duties paid. There is nobody within the uk who could provide that service, there are imports & there are imports each one he brings over is selected out of about between 10-15 cars.

What concerns me is that we have a member on here who is trading like mad but doesn't want to pay to be a trader (for unknown reasons) and who wants to introduce another trader to the forum who wants to trade but for unknown reasons does not want to be a forum member or a registered trader either. Why not?

Can he not speak for himself on this matter or does it all have to be done through a mouthpiece who appears to have his own ideas on how the forum should be run to suit his own pocket?

But rob, we as members, paying or not, benefited from getting the parts we needed.
If they made a bit, so what.
Its one of the main attractions to this site.
Or should I say was.

You have to admit that the forum threads do have long periods of , let's say, a lull.
When we have people starting topics such as' what shall I have with my cup of tea', it screams boredom.
At least with the likes of pmac and duncan we had a chance of a buying something from trusted sources.

Don't you agree a little?

In the ideal world, maybe! However, we live in the real world where hosting costs, software costs, insurance costs etc all have to be met and its a little unfair when people just use the place to 'fill their pockets' and dangle the proverbial carrot to the paying members without putting even the slightest into the running costs.

Am I right in thinking that the poll/vote to change the classifides would have been for paid up members only?

Therfore the people that are complaining about it, ie those that have not paid, did not have a say in it.

If you want a say in how the club is run then surely you should be a paid up member, if you haven't paid your £15 then you have no say, no matter how long you have been a member of the club.

I have to say this why I won't be on a committe ever again, no matter what you do, people will moan about it.

Keep up the good work guys, some of us love you.

Oops the samuri man is spending too much time being a ninja to read the posts correctly. Read the posts bud. Think about what you say and do. You can then answer your own question and post the answer to mine too. Oh no! hari-kari. It's an easy way out of a hole you dig yourself.

Some of what I have been reading has just been shocking and very sad... attempts at what looks like "blackmail", just, just...

If your not carefull, some/all commitee members will resign, and with the cr4p I have seen, who would want to replace them?

thankyou jak.
although i'm not approving of the new scheme and still feel that more exposure should have been given in terms of voting (all felt a bit secret squirel too me).
at least the general masses have some reference to the new rules and regs.
communication was very poor as a big chunk of us were unaware of what was being proposed.

and i would publicly like to apologise to anyone in the comitee i offended.
after rob's comments it made me think a bit.
but i think lessons must be learned from all this.
from both sides.

It will be difficult for non-uk members to get some "parts from classifieds". Oh well, guess I will be sending a lot of pm´s :smash:

The reason for the late announcement is entirely my fault. I'd drafted it a couple of weeks ago and was meant to present it to the committee so that we could post the news when we'd finished the bug testing but it's been pandemonium at work and my home circumstances have changed so I dropped the ball and it's been the committee getting flack for something I buggered up. Any other problems can be directed at me via PM please as it's not fair that anyone else should be getting a bashing.

I rrecall there being a majority vote but as the saying goes re statistics.....just how many people voted, for how long was the vote open and how many positive votes for this classified process please ?

Here's the poll from the site. It ran from 21st Feb for around a week (maybe more). I was then supposed to post up the official announcement after we'd completed the beta testing but got bogged down at work and have only just got 'back to life'. Like I said, if there are any problems then please everyone, let me know via PM and I'll do my best to answer / solve anything you might need help with.

The poll is still live and I have just voted.....for a laugh :D

So anyway, 7 day bollocks aside - when will the classifieds actually work like they should do??

Can you let me know what the broken bit is please Rob and I'll see if I can't figure out what the problem is.

Cheers,
Jakko

So 38 voted (I didn't of course) out of 3855 forum members but more realistically 350 ? paid up members.
Of which XXX ? paid up members are actually active on this forum ?

Maybe they were not bothered what happened, maybe they do not buy or sell. There are plenty of polls on here I have not voted on because I do not really care and my vote might have an effect on those that do.

People generally only have a say if it is something that will affect them, otherwise people tend not to bother I guess.

114 Club members with greater than 10 posts have visited the site this year (the reason for 10 posts is it gives a better idea of those actually involved in the club). There were enough votes to get a 'snap-shot' of the general consensus.
