Le Mans Classic 6/7/8 July 2018

Woody, yeh I understand and agree with a lot of what you are saying. Goodwood is somewhere I need to visit for the revival - done two trackdays there though, great circuit.

The revival is a great weekend away, if you do a single day, the sunday would be my call.

Well worth it, I agree with Franky. Sunday attendance would be best if your only going for one day as that's when all of the racing occurs. If you want to see the racing then be sure to walk around the circuit as the main pits area is massively overcrowded with too many people attending these days. It's the best vintage racing I have seen of any of the events I've been to anywhere.

The circuit is fun albeit not forgiving, I've driven it in a Rep D-Type and a few laps in the 240Z. I'd very much like to do a full track day sometime or even one of the members sprint events.

24th overall in straight racing BUT 10th when calculated with a performance index which basically uses a car’s performance advantage over the others within the same grid to handicap the big hp cars so they really need to race hard to win and not just trot around safely in front !

24th but 10th out of 81 cars is not just 'happy to participate....the Datsun tried hard and made the top ten !

Rob Crofton and his car get a massive amount of respect from me - well done!

Your camping looked pretty tame !

Thanks everyone.

Tame ?

Or do you mean civilised ?
Lots of space for everyone
Nice hot showers and clean toilets
Choce of swimming pools
Comfy lounging seats on shaded terrace
Affordable beer with short stumble back to your tent
Coffee, Tea or Green Tea for Jake EXTRA:D in a china cup
Fresh croissants and pastries on site each morning
Free classic car show on site outside every tent
Great 15 mile run to and back from circuit in convoy
Great company and like minded classic petrol heads all around

The only possible gripes would be the early morning wake up call of ducks quacking loudly at 4am behind us in the reeds combined with loud snoring in stereo from all around ;)

Ours was civilised.
Lots of space
Hot showers and clean toilets
Cold showers
Affordable drinks bought ourselves from the supermarket (ditto food)
Coffee, tea and pain au raison/chocolat each morning
Bigger classic car show outside the tent
2 minute drive to and from the circuit (no queues) or walking/cycling if preferred
We're all petrol heads and make great company.

Yours sounds lovely and obviously hard for some to leave it for a hot and dusty circuit 30 miles away - how much was it each ?

You forgot the nice crumpet Chris and the restaraunt, big tv screen for those into coronation st the free bar I on the Sunday and the party on the Saturday, worked out about eighty quid ,worth every penny,

The car was built in Japan - using many parts of the type originally used at Le Mans in 1975 and 1976, and with great effort to accurately represent the original 1975 entry - and yet it was rejected on grounds that proved the organising committee had no clue what had actually raced in the '75 and '76 events.”

I would love to find out more about the above car - where it is now and what FIA papers it has as it sounds like an amazing project. Does anyone have any more information on this? Does the car race and if so where? Any photos?
