Japfest 2015 - Castle Combe - Saturday 16th May 2015

Not a bad location, although its a shame we lost 1B.

Was that due to our own success and needing more space?

By the way the infield is now covered in Solar Panels.

Have a good time folks, I've had many happy days at Japfest and using track-time.

I may be back again it just got a bit too busy for an old guy like me. Too many Japanese cars around

..........

Is there a recommended nearby pub we should all congregate at the night before?

Ali

I've used the Jolly Hunstman (Kingston St Michael) and the Plough (SN15 5PY walking distance from the Premier Inn) and also Castle Combe village.

I found Castle Combe village a bit 'stuffy' For example my wife and I tried the Castle Inn - I went to the bar and she found a seat at a small table. I was told that if we weren't eating she couldn't sit there, needless to say we walked out but it was a bit humiliating. I can understand it from their point of view (lost food revenue) but it's no way to encourage trade (nowhere else to sit). We had walked a fair way from a B&B (Nettleton Mill House).

remember guys take a few minutes out of your time at japfest and track down Adam and thank him for all his efforts in doing it all this year
really is great to see some of the younger enthusiasts stepping up to the plate and taking these things on
A big well done from me on behalf of everybody who goes
A big thank you indeed

Thanks Rob. We went to another on the way but will defo try that one next time!

The car park at the travel lodge is a Japfest of it's own and the Z got some serious attention already - although once the admirers disappeared she looked a lot less cool (see pic) - I know it looks silly but it'll help me sleep well tonight ;)

Japfest was awesome!. This was my first Z-Club meet and thought it was great. Even the sun came out - totally unexpected and got seriously burnt cos I forgot my hat and sunblock.

Met some really great people and the 2 S30's that ventured onto the track were awesome.(never mind Ali. Maybe next year with a muffler!!!).

I echo Steve in saying a big 'thank you' to Adam for organising this for us. Well Done!

Cheers

Paul

Let me echo that too, a genuine pleasure to meet the guys today and put faces to names.

Johny's car decimated all!!! So awesomely quick and nimble.

Still can't believe I failed at 204dB given the din some if those cars made on track!!

I'll defo be coming with a home made muffler next time - one that will fit without damaging the car :D

Ade -great event thanks for organising us all! Big big thumbs!

The z club stand was a bit quiet so this happened ....

I've always been niosy :D

A big thanks to Adam for organising
:
Was great to meet some of you guys again and some for the first time

And my muppet moment of the day. Telling a guy who has just bought a 2+2 that he could find the club at zclub.co.uk :banghead:  Anyway why isn't that addy covered? ;)

So where next?

Great day, great to meet some genuinely nice club members (and some really noisy ones)! I've been with club a long time but this was my first outing with my car, it was great to have such good feedback on it.
Just to echo what has been said already, thanks to Adam.

Looking forward already to next time.

Cheers

I'm so glad the weather was good for you guys - it makes it so much better and of course track action is quicker.

104db - what revs was that at? What was the limit 100db?

John's car is quick! Was Steve Francis there too in a bit of a tatty red/black hybrid 240?

Any quick L6 Datsuns?

Unofficial lap times, incl 350/370s? Any modern Zs quicker than the 240Zs?

Castle Combe is a quick circuit, can you imagine what it was like before they put the 2 chicanes in?

Another great japfest and thanks to Adam for organising it.

Had fun on track as usual. It was a bit of a trial run today as I've uped the rear spring rate and raised the rear a little. I meant to reset the camber from drag racing setting but didn't get round to it so the back end was sliding around quite a bit. It going to need to do a bit of tweaking.

Great meeting and chatting to fellow Zeders as usual.

Just washed and filled the car with fuel ready for santa pod tomorrow.

Not particularly quick laps Rob but they were getting quicker with the last being 1' 22 seconds on my lap timer software.

Awesome day out at japfest guys - great to see some new faces and some from last year. Apologies for having to bring the Zlug lmfao but it done me proud - survived loss of power steering on the way up and still went out for 4 sessions!!
Does that end my "noviceness"?
Don't think so somehow lol
Nice to see a Sam make it, as well as the other beautiful 240's,260's and I wonder....was there any other z31's anybody?
Looking forward to more of the same

That'll be 104db ;)

Just as well they didn't give you a smoke test ;) :D :driving:

You're right 104 - I had it confused with yours there for a mo! ;)

LMAO re smoke test!

John's car is quick!

Many sunburnt faces Rob incl mine, great weather indeed!

100dB at 60cm and 4.5k RPM, however the guy had the tester right up next to the tail pipe, so I'm not convinced they did the test correctly.

From where I was standing John's car wasn't just quick because of the JZ transplant, it had much to do with the driver's skill  Not forgetting the sunroof of course, never underestimate the power of the sunroof  ;)

Some piccies ...
