Money no object - Aston DB4GT Zagato

Real world alternatives can buy for similar money to Z
60's/70's Alfa Bertone Coupes - Sprint, Junior or GTV
911S or 911SC from mid 70's/early 80's

I was after a mk1 escort before o bought my z project, still love em. I love some American stuff, fastback mustang, or camaro.
Had a lovely black skyline r32 gtr a couple of years back, it's the one car I really wished I'd kept, kicking myself for selling it recently

If my Z disappeared I'd buy a 1970's saloon car for about 5k and do some upgrades on engine;suspension;wheels;gearbox etc. Give it a better feel than when it came out of the factory but maintain that 1970's driving connectivity (modern cars seem to waft along)

There are some good examples on Petrolicious and youtube. The problem is that the more valuable my Z becomes the more precious I'm going to get about it (sad but true). A cheap but sound knockabout car project would tick a few boxes for me.

I had forgotten about my love of 60's/70's Alfa's until it was just mentioned. Also love those short 2 seater looking lancia's of the same era.

I'll just have to setle for the car iv'e been playing with today. They front wings and bumper need a bit of moding to look like they are meant to be on the same car.

John, is that a pedal/Noddy car or a real one? ;)

As well as my Z I have a 1972 Rover 3500S which scratches the big 70s saloon itch I always had. What else would I like in my stable? A Volvo 1800S (like the Saint used to drive), Triumph Dolomite Sprint and maybe a 60s Ford or Vauxhall with column change (Zodiac or Victor). Money no object I would have a 70s Maserati - either the Merak or the Khamsin.

Genuine GT40's are 'lottery winning' values for sure...... but what about a replica? Same looks, similar grunt.

Replicas can undoubtedly work but when you turn at Le Mans Classic to be confronted by dozens of the things (GT40 replicas), it is disappointing. Maybe I'm too old fashioned but I can't help think that if I don't have the money to buy an original, then don't buy anything at all.

Went to a classic car auction this afternoon and there were 2 lancia fulvia's there. Both early 70's. Love them and affordable with both car making just over 10k. A mate bought a lovely fully restored Karman Ghia for 9k. Another bargain. I managed to resist the temptation although I should off bought a couple of car that took my fancy.

I sold my first 240Z 15/16 years ago to buy a 1980 911 which I kept for 10 years or so, then I sold that to buy a 2006 BMW Z4M Roadster which I still have as well as the Orange 240Z, MOT time tomorrow for the ///M and I've only done 181 miles in it over the last year due to having the 240Z, very different cars obviously 150BHP to 343BHP and 34yrs apart but both great cars that I love loads :)

Must say the 240Z is by far the better looking car & was penned all those years ago. A true classic & as we know the beauty is much more than skin deep.
