Hi
So this is hello from me. I’m Jim and I bought a 240Z just before Christmas. It was the green/yellow one on eBay with a black bonnet. Green/yellow is subjective, at the moment its Nissan 112-ish, no-one in my family can agree on the colour and there is definitely more than one shade. Had looked at 2 previously and decided to buy this one. No research, no knowledge - pure emotion and permission from partner. Worst combination ever for buying a car I know. Should have joined first and bought second. There is a lot to do to it but it will be over years, not weeks or months!
At present it’s with a garage making sure it’s safe to roll around in. Driving it feels like piloting a bumper car dragging an anchor which catches up and overtakes when you slow down. It is my kind of car, realIy rough at the moment, but going. I used to have a Z in the 90’s and never forget the feeling of driving one, nothing comes close and still doesn’t. I do about 30K miles/year going to work and back in a company car so getting back to basics is going to be interesting.
I have already found I have forgotten more than I used to know about cars, not having had to touch one to fix it in the last 20 years. In the past I’ve rebuilt a GT6, engine as well, but I’m looking at this car thinking how on earth can I do this justice. Patiently reading the forum posts has been very enlightening, learning about the people on here as much as about their cars and experiences.
I’ll post on the feedback thread what my impression of the website is.
I hope to catch up and say hello at Japfest or Castle Combe, whichever fits around Dad’s cab service at the weekends.
Added photos of the car, first post so hope I've done it the right way.
