Compatible steering racks for "RHD" 240Z of 1973

Hi there,

It seems that it is very difficult to find a RHD steering rack for a 1973 240Z in order to do a LHD to RHD conversion.

So is there any compatible RHD steering rack so that I can tweak it here and there and put on the car for conversion ?

Id be in debt if someone could guide me through.

Cheers.

There are a couple of Subaru racks which work but require slight modifications.

I'm currently going through this process myself and should have a documented solution in a month or 2.

1993 Impreza and 1999/2004 Forrester racks are the easiest (I THINK) but they do require some bits off a Volvo for matching thread.

There are no direct bolt on solutions from the research I did. When I get five I'll share all my findings.

Being completely honest It's still not a cheap endeavour when you factor in sourcing an alternative rack and time. If you can get an original rack for £300 I'd say do it. I'm only less inclined to do so as I plan on integrating the power steering from my subaru rack.

Terry Taylor wrote an article in a Newsletter about fitting a Subaru rack to his 240Z. I'll 'dig it out' and scan it.

I still fancy the Subaru, my mechanic is a Subaru specialist and can source a 2.7 ratio rack the Forresters are 3

my engine should have a pump on as well already

Don't worry about me - I've been running PAS since 2006....and I like to master the power so wide, stocky tyres for me thanks.
