Collected my 240z from the body shop today my old Toyota Celica RA28gt is also in
Being respray.
Seems the topic of conversation with everyone who has visited the body shop this week
has been which car they like the best.
Easy answer for everyone on here I guess ?

TA22/3

Bodywise, the RA28 and Z are both attractive......but that's where it ends for me and going further, mechanically, even if including the GT version, the Z is miles higher !

RA28 was designed for home market, the Z for USA. So naturally there are going to be differences as their target markets differ.:D

With the twin cam and LSD, I am reliably advised that the Toyota drives and handles better and definitely the car in front:driving:

No kid, the Z was NOT designed for the USA.....pointless you being on this forum if you learn nothing.:(

Well, I've driven several Celicas in cluding an RA40 GT which, I believe had LSD and it was a complete pig in the wet - recirculating-ball steering with more play than a cheap whore...NO feedback to the driver - I'd take a stock L20A engined Z over the Celica anyday and beat it !

I knew my " USA statement" was going to antagonize you ;) , bingo :smash:
Disappointed that you fell for it Monsieur, "pointless you being on this forum if you learn nothing":p

Thank you for your feedback.

Anyone else who has driven both the Z and RA28 willing to share their experiences?

I like them both and would happily have either on my driveway, I've not had the opportunity to drive an RA though; which is your favourite Fairlineguy?

Now this RA40 was designed for by/for the US market, no question about it ;)

Did you have this model in France Sean ?
Is this the one you are talking about ?

This one I am bringing back from South Africa as it is just too nice to leave there. Fantastic original condition. Not as classic as the earlier 70's models but has a charm of it's own.

I can honesty say there isn't much in it.
I love the looks of both cars .Just wish I hadn't sold the ra28 especially seeing it again yesterday in the body shop as now I could have the both.
I genuinely got more admiring looks and thumbs up fron other motorist whilst driving the Toyota .

The Toyota is one of my other classic wants...

That Suzuki jeep looks pretty cool too!

That doesn't surprise me, it does look very nice :)

Are you going to the Jap day at Coombe?

Had a '75 TA22 celica 1600ST coupe (with the chrome bonnet vents) back in the 80's & early 90's. It was rust colour with red bits:p

Totally agree with the comment about the vague steering. The box was s**t and all the rods and ball joints flapped about. However, I loved it and it went like stink.

Always wanted a RA28 GT and would still get one if a decent one came up for sale at a reasonable price. People look at them and at first glance think it's a Mustang Fastback. Have hated all the Celicas since apart from the early 80s Celica Supra.

Prefer the S30 Z though!
