Hi, what would the original colour of the steel wheels be on a 240z be before the trims were fitted on top? Not sure if ey should be black or silver. Thanks for any help in advance.

Thank you Andy. I have the slots on mine but have now managed to acquire a full set of OE steel rims and trims. The steels were black on the outer face and I just wanted to check before they go of for repainting. As for the trims, they are all good with all 4 z logos present. They will need a little TLC to get the odd knock/dent out of them.

240z

Just passed its UK mot and have some advisories. Where is a good place to buy in the UK :

Both track rod ends
Both rear wheel cylinders
Clutch slave
Steering Rack mounting bushes

Just goes to show what deteriorates when the car is left standing!

Cheers in advance

Mike at MJP Eastern Auto - the best source of all the genuine 'Z' parts in the UK - tel 01277 374201.

And no doubt too modest to tell you himself.

Thank you - will give him a call. Can I check that the main beam press switch on the indicator stalk is supposed to put on the main beam without having to hold in the button manually?

Also, where in the car is the exit hole to connect up the number plate lights to the positive wire that are located on the rear bumper? Looks like they were never connected up when the car was restored.

Thanks again in advance

Nik

Nik - the 'press' button on the end of the stalk is to flash the Main Beams only - you pull it towards you to dip or put the Main Beams on.
And the feed aperture to the Rear Bumper should be to the rear of the Luggage Deck, if I remember correctly - or did it differ on some of the later models - UK spec might be different to the US-RHD conversions

In that case, when I pull the stalk towards me, there is no relay click and the high beam does not work - must be the switch if the flash relay works when you press that button, unless there are two relays for the main beam. The high beam flash one is in the passenger footwell.

Well well well Mr Bicknell nice to see you dropping in here and was nice to have a chat with you tonight
Enjoy your dinner though LOL

Im so pleased to see my old car back from the emerald lsle !

It now has 22,009 miles on it. The folder came with the car and makes interesting reading. Just waiting to put in the RB26 engine that I have with a R33gtst box.

Only kidding, no, that L24 engine runs just great.

But it has suffered a little by being stood too long.

If theres anything you want to know about her let me know....l had her for 19 years.

Will do, I have your number from Steve. The dealer in Ireland had to replace the diff before they transported it over to the UK. All I have done so far is to replace all the fluids, the air filter and plugs. The steel wheels are off for powdercoating as well as the spare.

Just got to get the high beam working correctly and replace some of the rubber items under the car.

It has kept well, but on the mot, they advised the underseal to be redone and to strip and rebuild the rear brakes.

I only live 40 miles from the original sellinfg dealer near Cambridge from 1973, which has long since gone and is now an industrial estate.
