Righty,

its winter, time to start working on my Z31

I wanna aim for a bit of a power upgrade, nothing crazy.

been told cheapest-ish method is to go for a T3 turbo from the Zenki or just do a T3/T4 hybrid. my Z31 is a Kouki with the T25

what parts and work does need to be carried out?

this is the info I have gathered so far about the stuff I need

- T3 Turbo or a T3/T4 hybrid
- Exhaust Elbow from a Zenki
- T25 to a T3 Flange adapter
- boost controller

anymore info on this be much appreciated!

Thanks

It might be best and cheaper to get hold of a good secondhand exhaust manifold complete with T3 from a pre-facelift Z31 and just bolt the lot on, then fab exhaust to fit if it's different.

thats what I had planned Scott, but unfortunatley there arent any pre-facelift Z31 being broken, the advantage of using the pre-facelift manifold is that I wont need a flange adapter, but the adapter is like £20-ish anyway.

also I need to do a intercooler setup when I go for the turbo upgrade

I'll give you buzz soon Scott, you're way ahead of me on this lol

Note that on UK cars, early turbos are not water cooled, but late versions (02/87 on) are.

There is no change of flange pattern on UK cars. The manifold went through some design changes, but the gasket remains the same throughout.

All USA turbo part numbers are different to UK and they became water cooled much earlier than we did (08/84)...

Don't forget the HKS kit I have hidden away here if money becomes no object :p.

haha! money isnt the object... the new wife is

T3 flange is huge compare to the T25 flange, I think T25 shares the same flange as a T28, if I find a cheapish one, might go that route

by the way Mike I need to give you the ECU I borrowed off you, it didnt work... well it did for like 30 seconds lol, car started but the ECU wouldnt recognize the transmission so it'd just stall when it came to shifting up

I have de-restricted the limiter, went through the ECU wiring diagram and did some ghetto mods lol
