Wheel vibration under breaking

Have steering wheel vibration under breaking just been Mot'd so assume bushes etc good.

Disks seem lightly worn so warping maybe not. Car has been stood for some time months, would sticky calipers or alike cause vibration car does not pull either way?.

Any Suggestions please

Cheers RH

Warped discs, soft tension rod bushes or wheel bearing play would be favourite causes. Also, with four pistons per caliper in the brakes, one sticky piston may be allowing some movement without showing up enough to affect brake balance on the MOT test.

Believe it or not had same problem last month or so,but my Porterfield discs are only 18 months old if that, and not heard of this brand warping before,i would get wheel wobble/vibration at around 60 mph to 80 then it went, but came back when braking/slowing up,then rememberd had my wheels refurbished a few months back, but checked to see if the sticky weights were all there and all ok,anyway thought why not see if there out of balance, and they were,15g one side 25g other, now its spot on ,no trouble, and for just £8:) Tony

It could be a number of things as people have said. The major culprits are,

Balancing could be slightly out,
Tracking could be out,
Torsion bush worn,
Warped discs.

You can see if your torsion bushes are worn. Look under the car just infront of the front wheels you will see a big bar with a huge rubber bush on the end. If there is a sticky goow coming out of the bush, they need replacing. If you change these bushes you should get your tracking done again.

vibration when braking

hi
take a tip from an old fool --- if you car has been standing for a few months the discs will have some corrosion buit up on them
and the disc will be "lumpy"every time the lump comes around it hits the brake pad and forces it back into the caliper and you feel this as a vibration the cure is to strip down the brakes chip off the lumps of corrosion onthe discs then cleen the discs very good with emery tape while you are there check the disc for "run out"with a dial gauge because a warped disc can also give a vibration by the way a sticky or siezed caliper piston will cause a brake bind not a vibration and will show up on the brake testat the mot station i could give you a lot more info on brakes if needed but this should solve your problem

I had the same problem. I thought it was warped discs as it feels just like it, I was told by are few people it was the discs, but one or two people who own a Z said it was the bushes, and it was the bushes. It has virtually the same symptoms.
