The end of the road for the 350Z???

Wouldn't that be a bit like shooting themselves in the foot after how well it has done?

That's what I thought - it really seems a bit foolish if they are giving such an idea serious consideration. The G35 definitely isn't a 350Z. Also, as someone on the pistonheads forum pointed out, the G35 and 350Z are available side by side in the US market - why could they think that the European market would have to be any different?

Hi,
The G35 in 2 door form is very like a 2+2 350Z!....It's badged as a Skyline in Japan, so the Z bloodline would be lost if this happened in Europe!

Had a brief on this yesterday, which was announced in Tokyo yesterday morning. As from sometime in 2008, Nissan will sell the Infiniti brand in Europe with a dedicated dealer network, separate from the Nissan range. No mention of dropping the 350Z (or future Z models), in favour of the Infiniti range. The Infiniti models will also be launched in Europe with a new line of powerplants. The Infinite brand and Z models are sold in the same areas side by side, so maybe we should n't worry. They also announced the opening of a Nissan assembly plant in Russia (St Petersburg), with a work force of 750 building 50,000 KD kits. Model(s) to be built was not announced but would not take volume away from European manufacturing plants.

not just that, but they even announced officially that the new Skyline will be sold in US a a Nissan and not Infiniti. Plus Infiniti is already present in US and they still sell the Z there as a Nissan :)
