Tach wiring

I’m having difficulty getting my tach to work.
I recently fitted fuel injection, I had it wired into coil before and it worked fine.
They say to wire tach into negative as a feed, and not to use + outlet. I’ve tried wiring other wire to a alternate + but no go.
Any ideas?

240z or 260z ?
240z and early 260z use an inductive loop tach
what ign are you now using ?

I have a 280zx distributor I had to remove the ignition module on the side of the distributor and wire it directly from coil when I fitted the injection system.
It runs an ignition amplifier now.

Far as I recall the 280z receives a signal from the blue wire on the negative side of the coil.
you might need a tach signal adapter like tachmatch

Hi,
I hope this diagram helps, it shows how to wire in a hotspark electronic ignition module and retain the tach function. Yours might be similar.
