Hey guys,
Just wondering if anybody knows the ECU codes for an '83 Nissan/Datsun 280ZX? The VIN # says the car is as follows:

JN1-nissan pass. vehical
H-Non-turbo L28E
ZO-S130 car model 280Zx
4- coupe
S-300ZX standard restraint system
D-1983 model year
X-nissha plant
563049- serial #

Just wanted to know...Any help to where I can get them would be greatful also...:)

VIN indicates 12/82 - 01/83 build date.
Part Code for MT ECU 22611-P9700
Part Code for AT ECU 22611-P9710

Info correct for USA not UK...

not part #'s....just any engine/ecu problems...yeah..i know that its for a US..thats where I'm at. But I thought that maybe someone may know... My check engine light stays on and just wanted to know what the cause (code) may be.:conf2: I've tried the check button. It showed the "stop", so,...At one time it did go off..after I did something under the hood and in the dash with some wire, then it turned right back on..

So if someone knows the dianostic codes or where to find them..Please let me know!!

As far as I am aware, ECCS analysis is possible only if you have access to Nissan's ECCS Analyser J28835. Self diagnostic ability started with the Z31 ECU (see our "Articles" section).
Otherwise you would have to perform individal component analysis using a multimeter to check resistance and/or continuity on each item, the loom and the corresponding ECU pins.

BTW, I appreciate that you are in the USA - I only put in the "not UK" bit as this is a UK site and I didn't want other readers to use the information given and apply it to UK market cars...:)

Hey thanks for the info...Just didn't know that maybe anyone here may have seen or heard about it..But I plan on taking the ECU to a local shop and see if they can find any problems.

But as the car sits now, I can peg the speedo in little time. It only reads 85 MPH but it'll do that in less than 1/4 mile.. (not too bad for a car not running on top performance)..But I know that there is cars around that can do way better..I just have to check a few more things out to get to the real problem.

Oh, BTW does any cars around there "talk" to you? For an example: My car beeps then says "left door is open."
Just wanted to know if that is normal or what..I pulled the ECU out and must have reset it somehow and this happened...kinda freaked me out while driving, and nearly ran off the road! ...Never heard it before....

The talking 280ZX was an American market option available on '83 models - whole variety of warnings, "lights on", "door open", "seatbelt", etc. Only ever heard it once on a US car in the UK.

It would be interesting if you could chart all the possible warnings the system can give...?

I don't know about charting them all...kinda creepy..lol. Don't know if you've or anybody else seen it..But watch Maximum Overdrive. The cars come alive and take over the world. Soooo, just kinda wierd when I heard it talk...lol.

But thanks for the info. Didn't know if any cars there did the samething. I really didn't know that my car did it till it scared the heck out of me...thought the car was going to explode!!!

But I"ve got new injectors coming in about a week...so...maybe thats the end of the pain..But I just figured out how to reset my ECU. Helped out a lot!!!

Mr F, here are some examples of language of my US 82 :

Left door is openned
Right door is openned
Fuel level is low
Lights are on
...

Just found one
J28835 is for US 280zx turbo only as far as i understand
(Orhers 280zx or 280z are EFI and require another analyser)

Good find!
Japanese Fairlady S130 also had ECCS in some models. I've seen it in a 1982/3 2.0 Turbo car for example. I guess the analyser would work with them too (not that there are many in the UK...).
