s.u. float settings

Hi! I'm a new member to the club and need to pick someone's brains. I have bought a 1979 rust free 260z which has been stored for 15 years. One carb was gummed up with scale in the float chamber and in a mess. I've cleaned them both up but it runs very badly and seems starved of fuel. Does anyone know the float stroke setting (Haynes says set to dimention 'H' but omits to tell you what it is) should be? Or any advice please. The carbs are the Hitachi HMB46W type and I have fitted a new fuel pump and ditched the old fuel.

The mystery dimension "H" is 12 - 13mm. Also, with carb top side down, the gap between float and power valve nozzle should be between 0.5 and 2mm.

With the carbs on the car, there is a sight window on the fuel bowl which can be viewed using an automotive / dentist mirror (assuming it isn't clouded over with age&#33<img src="http://www.zclub.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'>. Running fuel level should be halfway up the window.
